Assisted Competitive Employment
The Assisted Competitive Employment (ACE) program places dually diagnosed
individuals in competitive jobs that pay at least the federal minimum wage.
Based
on the individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, the ACE program stresses
client choice in job paths. Once a reasonable client preference is determined,
the ACE team finds job opening and then readies the job seeker for employment.
Job entry is rapid without extensive job readiness activities. Direct assistance
in available to acclimate the newly hired to the workplace environment and,
while independence is encouraged, on-the-job supports are on an ongoing basis.
The
program also supports clients when jobs end, stressing that no job loss is a
failure. Every job termination builds on the positives learned from the work
experience and strives to improve the next job placement. The ACE program works
with any job seeker interested in competitive employment. No one is excluded
because of job terminations..
The ACE team also provides: benefit planning, assistance with housing and
transportation issues, and purchasing clothing and/or equipment needed on the
job.
To be eligible, an individual must be dually diagnosed and interested in
working in a competitive environment.
