Forensic Evaluation Unit

The Forensic Evaluation Unit is a diversion program that assess individuals struggling with mental illness, chemical dependency, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, or other behavior health challenges that have become involved with the Oneida County criminal justice system.

During the assessment process, problem areas are identified and a plan is devised to address the needs, including referrals to community providers. If the court/participant/attorney agrees to the plan, CNYS staff monitors the follow through of the plan.
