Choices will serve adolescents and young adults ages 13 to 24 with serious mental and behavioral challenges. The program will be based at Elmcrest Children's Center, and will provide a substance abuse outpatient treatment clinic for individuals with co-occurring disorders in addition to substance abuse or dependence, such as mental health or other life issues.
The program is based on the Seven Challenges Program which was designed specifically for adolescents with drug problems and focuses on motivating a decision and commitment to change. The idea is to meet individuals where they are in their life stage and work to support them and strives for honesty and engagement rather than pushing for what may be empty promises.
Referrals are accepted through the Centralized Intake Department at Central New York Services, Inc. (315) 478-0610.
