Center for Community Alternatives Participates in CNYS Speaker Series 11/09/2011

CNYS Speaker Series takes place in the Continuing Day Treatment Program office. From right to left: Mark Okazaki, Counselor, DRP; Jatia Peterson, Counselor, DRP; Dr. Paula Zembrowski; Dana Ontiveros, Intake Specialist, CID; Tom Montague, Supervisor, CID; Christine Abate, Supervisor, Syracuse CCA; Manny Josbena, Counselor, CDT.

Christine Abate, Director of CCA Syracuse, spoke as part of the CNYS Speaker Series. CCA offers a variety of innovative programs in our community as well as New York City and Rochester. Like CNYS, CAA began in Syracuse and they are currently celebrating their 30th year of service. Christine provided an overview of what CCA has to offer, including the drop-in peer support program.

CCA's newest  program, the Parent Success Initiative (PSA), offers non-custodial parents the chance to participate in a federally funded study focused on best methods for improving employment. The long-range study will track participants and a control group and will focus on best methods for achieving employment outcomes.

While perhaps best known for diversion programs, CCA is concerned with a range of issues related to incarceration rates. Anyone interested in what CCA has to offer is encouraged to stop in their office.  Drop-in hours are from 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday through Friday. CCA is located in the city of Syracuse at 115 E. Jefferson Street, Suite 300.
