Enriched Services - Single Room Occupancy

The Enriched Services Single Room Occupancy Program was once a forty-eight (48) bed residence with private living units and on-site service designed to meet the individual needs of the residents. It has since grown to four separate facilities, with a total of 120 beds.

The program is intended to provide stable, clean, comfortable long term housing to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. By encouraging individual initiative and pride in their living situation, the program aims to bolster self-esteem and independence for these individuals.

The original rooms are located in three side-by-side homes in Syracuse. Two of the homes are handicapped accessible. Each resident is provided with a private room with a bed, table, dresser, closet, chair and lamps, shared baths and living areas. Residents may bring their own furniture if they prefer. Residents may participate in a full meal plan or can make their own meals in one of our satellite kitchens. Front desk reception is covered 24 hours per day.

Gateway HouseThe next facility to open was Gateway House, also in Syracuse. This 24-bed facility was the first SRO built by the agency from the ground up. The four-story building has three floors of residential space, with administrative offices and meeting rooms, nurses station and dining area on the first floor.

Following Gateway by two years was The Homestead. Also built by the agency, and also consisting of rooms for 24 clients. The rooms at the Homestead are designed to give the feel of efficiency apartments, further enhancing the residents' sense of empowerment.

The Homestead

In 2009, Central New York Services assumed operations of Lincoln Elms II. This 24-bed facility is being run using our proven single room occupancy formula.
