Fun was had by both residents and staff at last week's Carnival, held at the Gateway SRO. Sue Black, Food Service Supervisor, organized the Carnival as a way to celebrate the end of summer and send a message of caring and commitment to the residents in our various housing programs. Guided by a beautiful blue-sky day and mild temperatures, staff gathered in the morning to set up tables and chairs, blow up balloons, fire up the grill, and learn how to use the rented popcorn, sno cone, and cotton candy machines. Games, including Basketball Dunk and Troll Toss were set up along the fence. As residents arrived, they were welcomed by staff who showed them to the lunch buffet of hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, strawberry shortcake, and assorted juices. Following the meal, residents were encouraged to play games, sample a snow cone or some cotton candy, or just visit with others under the big top tent. All in all, more than 60 residents and 20 staff participated. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great day!
